Need help picking out some music for a party!!! Please!!!?

I'm having a hard time trying to decide what to play for my graduation party....I want to play rock music since it's what I like, but my mom said I can't because there will be a whole bunch of elderly people....so I have no idea what to play....???? Can anyone help me out...I think the songs need to be older? and a soft type genre....:/ Thanks a lot!! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
